THE NETWORKED RFID LOCKING SYSTEM

CAPTOS

The networked electronic RFID lock is the perfect solution for lockers in public facilities, sports and fitness centres, public buildings, museums and offices and more. The benefits of these networked locking systems are particularly advantageous for decentralised organisations.

Transponders such as employee IDs, keyfobs or wristband provide easy-to-use, intuitive opening and closing using contactless RFID technology based on 13.56 MHz. Captos supports the popular MIFARE and LEGIC technologies. Captos can also be used with your existing MIFARE or LEGIC transponders; in this case, please take advantage of our compatibility and range check service. Captos is available in MIFARE and LEGIC variants.

THE BENEFITS

AT A GLANCE

  • 13,56 MHz MIFARE / LEGIC
  • Operation with (existing) RFID cards or keyfobs*
  • Assigned used or shared use operating mode
  • Optical and acoustic signals
  • Optional LED status display
  • Use of smartphones with the LEHMANN transponder app**
  • Symmetrical design, can be used left-handed or right-handed
  • Suitable for wood, HPL and metal (assembly in metal with additional component)
  • Optional ejector for contactless opening
  • Mains operation without batteries
  • Installation card: universal tool to operate the lock throughout
the supply chain up until the client takes possession of the lock R Configuration via LEHMANN Management Software LMS
  • Alternative configuration using master card also possible

The distance between the locks must be at least 5 cm.

* Third-party transponders must be checked in advance for compatibility and range. MIFARE Classic and LEGIC prime transponders are only supported to a limited extent.

** MIFARE systems only support Android smartphones. LEGIC systems without a master-token support Android smartphones and iPhones only with master cards. FW 2.x is required.

CONTROLLERS

PRIMARY AND SECONDARY

  • Primary and secondary controllers provide the power supply for Captos locks and for data transfer between locks and the server in the customer‘s network (LAN) using the LEHMANN Management Software LMS
  • The primary controller acts as the interface to the customer‘s network (LAN)
  • 24 Captos or Captos iCharge locks with MIFARE or LEGIC technology can be connected to each controller
  • Locks are connected via an RJ11 connector
  • Up to 32 secondary controllers can be connected in series to one primary controller
  • Alternatively, controllers can be used as just a power supply for the locks without LMS

Locks and controllers

On-/Offline Mode

Offline mode
In offline mode, the LEHMANN Captos and Captos iCharge locks can be configured either with master and programming cards or with the LEHMANN Management Software LMS (basic version)*. The controllers are used for power supply in offline mode. If the locks are configured with the LMS (basic version) in offline operation, then the locks are not directly networked with the LMS via the customer’s network (LAN). In this case, configuration changes are transferred to the locks using the LEHMANN Data Transfer app and an NFC-enabled Android smartphone. Up to 24 locks can be connected to one controller. If Captos locks are connected to the controllers, up to three controllers can be powered from one power supply unit. If Captos iCharge locks are connected to the controllers, each controller must be powered by a power supply unit.

Typical system structure: online mode

Online mode
The locks are managed and configured in the LEHMANN Management Software LMS (online version) during “online mode”. The LMS operates within the customer’s IT infrastructure. The Captos or Captos iCharge locks are directly connected to the customer’s network and thus to the LMS via the primary controller. The controllers supply the locks with power and also ensure data communication between the LMS and the locks. The Primary Controller is connected to the customer’s network via Ethernet cable and acts as a transfer point. Several primary controllers can be used in a project. Up to 24 locks and up to 32 secondary controllers can be connected in series to a primary controller. Up to 24 locks can be connected to each Secondary Controller. If Captos locks are connected to the controllers, up to three controllers can be powered from one power supply unit. If Captos iCharge locks are connected to the controllers, each controller must be powered by a power supply unit.

LEHMANN MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE LMS

PROGRAMMING

The configuration and management of large numbers of locks has never been so easy. The networked Captos and Captos iCharge locks, in combination with the LEHMANN LMS management software, offer a wide range of features and benefits, especially for operators of facilities with many lockers. The software is operated as a Windows application within the customer’s IT infrastructure. The advantages of “LMS Online” include:

  • Easy configuration of the LEHMANN RFID systems
  • remote assignment of access rights
  • realtime status information
  • Read-out of log files
  • reduced operation costs
  • Mixed operation of networked Captos locks and offline LEHMANN RFID locks
(e.g. Captura) within the same LMS application

RFID cards or keyfobs

Card programming
All LEHMANN RFID systems share the same, intuitive programming logic. All RFID locks can be operated with the universal installation card up until the moment that the client programmes a Master Card to it. This offers a tremendous advantage throughout the supply chain, from furniture production, transportation, distribution and right up to on-site installation. Configuration of locks is fast and simple with individual Master Card and other programming cards.

  • Simple and intuitive lock configuration
  • rapid programming of transponders without additional software
  • master cards can be re-ordered with the individual service key

Satisfied customers are happy to recommend LEHMANN to others.

As part of our new office design, we installed 500 lockers with Lehmann RFID locks… . They were professional and helpful throughout, and worked tirelessly until they found the solution to our problem. I can’t thank them enough and would definitely recommend Lehmann and their locks.
